Here is our Amanda's take on photography and your wedding day :

Tell us about your style?

My photos are bright and colorful. I love the feeling a bright, slightly overexposed photo can bring to you. I want my photos to feel natural and relaxed. I want people to enjoy themselves when they are with me. I like to take a mix of both posed and candid/lifestyle photos.

What is your favorite part about being a photographer?

Capturing those moments in your life that you want to remember. It’s like freezing time, for just a split second. Something we all wish we could do. I’ve taken so many photos in my short life, already, and I’m so glad I have. I love looking back at a photo, even if it was just from a few month ago. Life goes by so fast.

Why is it beneficial to hire a professional photographer instead of having a family friend or someone capture your wedding?

A professional has more experience than an amateur family member or friend. He or she will come equipped with the right equipment, back up equipment, and possibly an additional photographer.

What should people that are looking for a wedding day photog look for and what are some questions they should ask?

A potential bride should first look at the photographer’s style of photography. There are so many different photographers out there, find one that fits your personal style. Do you like formal, candid, a mix of both? Next, find out if he or she is available! It is best to book 8-12 months before your wedding date. Then, check out their packages to see what they already offer, chances are, one will fit your needs. Do not hesitate to ask if they are flexible in their packages. Maybe the package offers print credits of certain sized prints, but you’d like different sizes. Ask! It can never hurt to ask. Most photographers are going to be willing to work with you, to the extent they can. Make sure you know exactly what comes in your package, For example, how many hours will they be there for on your wedding day? Does your package include photos all day, with no hour limitation? Ask what photos come with your package. Do you get a proof of every photo, a disc or jump drive with the copyrights, a set print package? Ask if this included, or if you must pay for them separately. Last, read over the contract thoroughly. Know what you are getting, and when your payments are due. Be sure to confirm everything with your photographer, before signing!

If you could only give one piece of advise to brides what would it be?

Choose a photographer based on her style and quality of work, not on price alone. For every hour spent photographing, several more hours are spent going through every single photo, choosing the best ones, and touching up any that might need it. Quality matters!

What do you do when you aren't behind the lens?

I am a wife to one very fun man, and a full time legal secretary at a law firm in Anniston, Alabama. I’m also the Chapter Advisor for my sorority, Phi Mu at Jacksonville State University.
